Assurance of Salvation for a child – I Have A Question?

Thank you for telling us that you had a question while doing the correspondence course. I’m sure you are learning a lot from your work.

We are proud of you in making the decision to ask the Lord Jesus to be your Savior. When you gave your heart to the Lord Jesus, He became your very own and He is in you. You are safe and no one or nothing can separate you from Him.

You are part of His family.

Jesus has a very special love for children. Matthew 18:1-14illustrates this point. Jesus sets a little child in the midst of the disciples and begins teaching about how important he is. Jesus makes several points:

  1. They are important to Him.
  2. They have great faith.
  3. He warns about discouraging them from coming to Jesus.
  4. He is not willing that one of these little ones should perish.
  5. They have a special guardian angel.
  6. Jesus invites them to come to Him.

Not only are you made in God’s image and His Son died for you but you are special to God. He gave you a gift – everlasting life. John 5:24 expresses it this way; “Verily, verily (truly, truly) I say unto you, He that heareth my Word and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation (judgement); but is passed from death unto life.” The word “hath” is an old English word for has which is right now.

Does that mean we will never do anything wrong? NO! We still must deal with sin. When we realize that we have sinned, we go to the Lord and do what 1 John 1:9 tells us to do: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” The word “confess” simply means “tell on ourselves.” If we will do this He will restore us which means we are on speaking terms again.

Some assurance verses:

John 10:28 “And I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish.”

Romans 8: 38, 39 “For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

May you rest in what Christ has done for you and rejoice that God has you in His Hands. What a safe place!
