My Salvation Experience

This post is to specifically help with a Christian to share his/her testimony, or to help someone understand what a testimony is.

A testimony is a report of something that happened to you that you saw or experienced personally. In Christian circles, it means more specifically a report of what happened to you regarding salvation. (When did you get saved, or why or how you were led to receive Jesus as your Savior.) Here is an example of a testimony from an account in Scripture using Acts 8:26-40 and Isaiah 53.

An Ethiopian eunuch, who was the treasurer for Candace, Queen of Ethiopia, is telling her what happened to him when he went to Jerusalem to worship.

“While in Jerusalem I bought this book, it was the book of Isaiah. So, on the way home I was reading it. Suddenly there was a man running toward me and he asked me if I understood what I was reading. I told him I did not understand it, but I needed someone to help me. The man’s name was Phillip. I was reading where it says, “He was lead as a sheep to the slaughter and as a lamb dumb before his sheerer, so he opened not his mouth.” I asked him of whom the prophet was speaking of himself or someone else. Phillip told me about Jesus. Jesus was the sacrificial Lamb of God who died for my sins but came back to life after three days. Jesus is the Son of God who offers the Gift of Salvation to all who will believe. I asked Phillip if I could be baptized. Phillip said if I believed with all my heart I could be baptized. I said I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I was baptized and filled with joy. Phillip disappeared and I returned home rejoicing.”

Have you confessed to Jesus that you are a sinner? Did you ask Jesus to forgive your sins and save you? If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, how would you describe the way you came to know Jesus as your Savior? If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Savior yet, you can tell us that too. Please send an email to slmcourses@slmin.org or send a message using “contact us” message on the website’s home page.  We would like to help you any way we can.
